Project: Ambulance Stations

Innovation: A feature is the installation of a building management system (BMS) which controls the entire facility. When personnel are away from the station, lights, air-conditioning and security systems can be remotely controlled.
Design Aspects: After extensive consultation occurred between staff, management and the architectural team, a standard design was created for 15 stations. Each station is costed at about $1million.
Environmental Innovation: The building is thermally efficient and so uses minimal air-conditioning. All the standard ‘green’ features have been designed into the facility in addition to the comforts, training needs and vehicle storage needs for a station. The design is an innovative ESD industry leader.
