Project: Residential dwelling - Willyaroo project
Location: Willyaroo, SA
Location Challenges: This building is a design based on client’s wishes. The block is sited on a bend of the Angas River, and we had to of take into account a lot of issues to do with the site to get the project through planning approval.
Design Aspects: The design brief required the building to be positioned with a south-north aspect but we had also to consider the issues of subsidence (the build needed to be well clear of the river banks), so the foundations were fairly heavy. A feature of the façade is a concrete feature block, which has really presented well.
Specialist Expertise: Another important aspect was that EnvironArc put the project for tender to local and non-local builders, on behalf of the client. Going to a builder and asking “how much to build this design” means that builder has no need to produce a competitive quote, however a tender process can realise excellent deals for the client.
