Project: Residential dwelling, Hectorville, SA
Location: Hectorville, South Australia
Location Challenges: There was already a house on the block, but the owners really liked the location so bought the property and demolished the existing house.
Design Aspects: The house at Hectorville is still under construction. It has rammed earth walls and feature stone columns at the front entrance. There is a home office upstairs which required certain cabling requirements for a computer network. The house will also have a BMS (building management system) which can be remotely operated by phone as well as other power saving options.
Environmental Innovation: This home has been designed with extensive passive ESD elements. In floor heating and optimum thermal qualities mean that airconditioning is not required. Abundant natural light and hi-tech glazing are other important design features. There are a lot of solar panels on the roof putting power back into the grid and the owners can look forward to saving about 40% on their electricity bills. The house is also set up to run entirely on harvested rainwater.
Specialist Expertise: The clients had a rough design floor plan and EnvrionArc have been able to take it forward to a workable build solution
